We had a tremendous turnout at the October 12, 2016 Parish Council meeting.  A total of 42 were in attendance.  Parish Council elected Laura O’Neill as Coordinator, Ray Barchanowicz as Co-Coordinator, Julie Barchanowicz as Secretary and Ginny Mone as Backup Secretary.

Fr. Dan led Parish Council as various commissions were formed.  It is his intent that Parish Council meetings will be structured where everyone can gather, break into different commissions and gather back together to discuss the commission’s progress.  Everyone in our Parish family is invited at any time to participate in any of the commissions. 

As the commissions begin their work, information will be published in the bulletin informing parishioners and inviting participation.   Here are some of the commissions and ideas discussed:

  • Liturgy – Planning weekly and special liturgy, coordinating with Music Ministry
  • Ministry – Eucharistic ministers, ushers, lectors, servers
  • Evangelization – Planning spiritual events
  • Special Events – Clambake, Polka Mass, etc.
  • Communication – Mass video, website, Facebook
  • Buildings and Ground – Work on landscaping, cleaning, laundry, repairs/painting, decorating
  • Social Action – Womenkind, rice bowls, food pantry, Thanksgiving/Christmas meals, school supplies
  • Sunshine / Helping Hands – Nursing home visitation, bereavement, communion to the home-bound, welcome packages
  • (Name to be determined) – Planning activities, speaker presentations for seniors, families
All are invited to join the next Parish Council meeting on November 9, 2016 at 7:00 PM in the church.
