Well, I just got back from getting a port implanted in my chest. It looks like a little heart about as round as a quarter and it is about 1/2 inch thick. It has a very fine tube coming from it that is threaded under the skin to the superior vena cava. It causes a very slow drip of chemicals to go into a very large vein so the chemicals are dramatically diluted by the amount of blood and cause less damage to healthy tissue and less illness. In two weeks it should be healed and I can resume normal activities like showers because it is totally under the skin.
We got to the hospital and my friend Stephanie O'Rourke was at the desk. Her daughter Taylor ,who I baptized a about 16 years ago waited till I came. The doctor had a patient cancel so he was ready for me right away. The people were awesome and as sweet as they could be and the procedure went very simply.
I was recovered in a very short time and Laura and Donna took me to my favorite Japanese restaurant, Shuhei. Had some miso soup, sashimi that I was able to get down and I have some for tomorrow!
I would not have guessed prayer could have made this whole thing more like a vacation afternoon and brought me home filled with peace and ready for bed!
Thanks to all of you for making this happen
