Dear Parishioners, Friends and Family,
Thanks for all your prayers and support! I thought I would update you with what I know. I have a large malignant tumor that goes from the base of my esophagus to the top of my stomach. It happened overnight 6 weeks ago and I woke up with limited ability to swallow. Since then I have lost a lot of weight but I am getting a handle on how to keep the nutrition coming in. I have a lot more tests before I will know the extent of the cancer, the stage, the plan of action etc. At this point I feel great, I am riding my bike, walking, swimming and maintaining normal activities. I am presently on a vacation I planned before I got sick and the only thing interfering with my normal life is all the medical appointments. The only thing I need at this time is prayer and understanding that I cannot respond to all the thousands of calls , messages and emails. I also don't want to spend the rest of my vacation or much time when I am working talking about it. Everything I know is above and the Doctors from the clinic can take it from there.
I am confident with this wonderful wrapping of prayer and God's consistent blessings in my life that all will work according to His plan. By mid to end July I will have a course of action in place and a lot more info. Until then keep praying, and be kinder than normal to those around you and know I would love to chat with all of you and give you big hugs but that is not possible. I plan on continuing my schedule in the parishes as best as possible when I return from vacation the weekend of the 26th of June. God be with all of you and I promise that I will squeeze out every ounce of life I can get and none of it will take away my enthusiasm or my smile.
